Registration Sunday!

The weekly Sunday tourney was held today at the Mendocino High School under sunny, cool and (not surprisingly) windy conditions today. The tourney started slowly, with members registering for the club and receiving sweet MCFC logo discs (think AC/DC) prepared by Erin and David, awesome handmade leather bag tags provided by Jason, and a speech about continuing to respect the club's no smoking and drinking policy at the Mendo course by me. The masses really appreciated the discs and bag tags. Once all the preparations were finally completed, and everyone was close to hypothermic, the 23(!) players assembled went out a played a round of...disc golf! After all the dust settled, discs blown out of baskets counted, and the scores tallied, the red hot Matt F, fresh off his win at the Ice bowl and second place finish last Sunday, walked away with a pocketful of money by shooting a -8, 5 strokes below his handi. Craig took second and was one of the few players to shoot under par. Erin shot a -9 for the best round, the #1 tag, and a pat on the back. Last (but not least) Jeremy aced hole 15, in one of the most quietly celebrated ace's in MCFC history! It was Linsanity! He threw it right Lin to the basket! I guess we all just expect the ace's from him at this point. In keeping with the MCFC blog tradition, I must make reference to my round: I did not repeat as tourney winner (though my name IS Matt) and through sheer will and determination somehow still managed to pull off a a +3, despite birdying 7 holes. That takes serious effort, my friends! Thanks to all who came, joined the club, and gave their money to Matt (not me) and Craig. See you all on the course (for a bag tag challenge!)

Sunday tourney: Register for 2012

MCFCERs-
This Sunday we will be starting registration for the 2012 year. For $30 you will receive a new bag tag (handmade by Jason) a new disc (hand dyed by Erin) and all the benefits of being a club member (special tourneys, weekly tourneys, and fame and fortune).
We will be playing A course, and bag tags will be distributed to new members based on scores. So come on out everyone!
In other news, I won tourney last Sunday on C course, and Alex V won Thursday singles in Fort Bragg. Also I have tallied the scores from the Ice Bowl for Coast Cup points. I am waiting to hear about one thing more before I post them.

ICE BOWL RESULTS

First off i want to send out some thank yous i prob should of announced at the tourney:

Huge thank you to A.J Buhl who once again outdid himself by raising 1000 bucks worth of stuff for our raffle and ring of fire plus all the little perks in the prize packs for the winners. He also was on the registrations and scorecard tallying. he was working hard the whole time. please take a moment to thank him personally.

Also the Brodys (as we affectionately refer to them by) drove all the way from Washington state to help out. they too were all over the registration and scorecard tallying and thank god they were cause i would of messed it up fast. i would hate to think of trying to handle any of it without their support.

thanks to Erin for handling the flag rentals and the scorecards they were awesome as usual. Matthew and Kara and Rebecca for the lunch. thanks to Chris and Jen V for all the constant support through the whole last month.big thanks to Dennis and hawk and whip and Levi and every one who helped with the tee pads and all the work that went into the course. thanks to Dylan letsinger who sold raffle tix and handled that whole area that raised a amazing 715 dollars. thanks to Jim for setting up signs in the morning to help keep everything smooth on the course

Now I have one huge apology to Anna Caudle who really took third in womens , due to a score keeping error on our part she was not awarded her prize at the tournament. luckily she was able to get it before the night was out

soooo many people were very supportive the whole time and did everything they could to help out. i know i am forgetting to mention people who helped and i hope they will forgive me.

allright time for the big news!!!
we had 84 players and
we raised 2500 dollars in proceeds!!!!!

715 from raffle
80 from ring of fire
bout 155 from disc sales
and the rest from registrations

i believe there is a clause in the rules of running a icebowl that states that a club can keep a small percentage for course improvement. so im hoping i might be able to get some funds for a practice basket out at the course. im not 100 percent on this but i have sent a email looking into it. i think the disc golf community out here deserves it after all the help and good vibes at the tourney

Chris V or C.V. Star

In an unparalleled, uncomprimising, outstanding event...last Sunday February 12, 2012 Chris V. wins Sunday tournament on the mysterious C Course. With family and friends around, he took his bag full of plastic and set out for excellence...which he achieved. Nice win Chris V. Email me a picture of yourself and we will get it up on the blog. My email is: dsteinming@yahoo.com. In related news Hemmies shoots -10 (I am not sure handicap score) and gets 2nd (I think). Stay tuned for Ice Bowl and Coast Cup write up and results.

Coast Cup Update!

The point totals for the first two legs of the first annual Coast Cup have been posted. Click under the MCFC Coast Cup heading above for the updated results. You will also see the results of the Boontown throwdown pictured there. Keep in mind that we have two legs left (Fort Bragg, Mendocino) and that the final points will be calculated using the best three scores of the four rounds. Good luck everyone!

In other news, 16 folks played in the Sunday tourney on A course- Greg took home the top finish by shooting -9, Jim came in second with a -12, and Wip came in third.

Also, Jeremy announced that there will be full moon frolf tonight at FB.

Special start time tomorrow!

Fellow MCFCers
It was decided after last Sunday's tourney that we will start tomorrow at 12:30, out of reverence for the greatest of all of our country's sporting events - the Superbowl.
12:30 tomorrow, A course.
After we will find out if Madonna attempts to out do Janet Jackson with a wardrobe malfunction to revive her career.
