The last two weeks....

Doggy Style

Well, despite the dearth of information on our blogs (which apparently 9 people look at ((according to the blog stats)) meaning about one third of our club) Things have happened in the last two weeks!  Perhaps it has been the absence of some of our regulars, such as David "desert rat" D, Jim "city slicker" Eldridge or Erin "Hucking shit in Vegas" Hemulous.  Or the inevitable let down after the club expended so much energy in so little time.  Or the sudden break out of seasonable weather, but for whatever reason no one has sat down and wasted valuable hours of rest to trying to tell everyone (or 1/3 of everyone) what they already  know in a witty and humorous way.  Yes Derrick won the coast cup, which was rad, and deserves its own write up, which I am sure Jim, my literate and nimble prose producing partner can expound on.  I did not win, and neither did you unless your name is Hawk or Erin.  Lets just say it was pretty much the best thing ever, and the APE course is highly regarded. (some whispers indicate that the club might like to play the ape course EXCLUSIVELY in mendo, assuming we can stay ahead of the vandals).  Speaking of which, the vandals have been trashing the high school (in general) and Mendo course (specifically) about once a week.  What the Fuck???
In other club news, 7 bewildered souls showed up the Sunday after the APE and played A course.   Jeremy (who BTW hasn't thrown an ace in at least the last 72 hours...as far as I know...) won,  Greg (shooting the best score of -6 ) tied with Nate dog,  they had a playoff for 2nd- and I have no idea who won, cause I went home.   This Sunday was B course and Nate Dizzle "who let us use his shit when he wasn't even there and we left chairs in the middle of his showroom and the heater on" Dog beat the shit out of any disc golfer who bothered to show with a -8 below handi!!!  Jeremy and Juballe tied for 2nd, and Rayden was 3rd.  Funny thing was, they had all gone home, so we put the $10 in the ace pot.  Which brings up the subject of, well, what do we do when all the second and third place winners leave before the tourney is over?  some other questions-  Should we keep doing 3 different course in Mendo? and, Can we get an evening tourney in Fort Bragg so more club members can come?  As far as I know, Fort Bragg has 2 pm dubs on Tuesday and 2:30 pm singles on Thursday.  How about an evening or Saturday round?  Just a thought.
Also, In this weeks Dubs from Ft Bragg,   Greg and Jeremy took down  Chris and Jesse and Dan and Matthew in a close and hotly contested doubles round.  I believe all groups were tied at -7 after 11 holes, but G and the Germ pulled away on the last few holes for the victory.
Goodnight!

  2. I've been hearing a few people advocating the consolidation of the 3 high school courses into 1 "wicked awesome champion course," with the best of A,B and C (and maybe a few new twists) built in. (Like.. keeping the long-bomb high ground shots from B and C in there or something).

There is a LOT of opportunity for a new course design and I think it would be fun, and possibly boost membership incentive by cutting down the 8 weeks it takes to build a handicap to 3.

  3. so at a pdga tourney if you outright win anything it is held for you, if there is a tie and you leave you automatically lose the playoff, i think we did decide to go by pdga rulings at our tourney.

Since it was asked i think the neccesity for spotters, and the prevelent overlaping of fairways makes ape course unpractical for weekly play, as well as the shot from 8s tee to over the parking lot (although i think it was a really fun shot) was very dangerous to any cars in the parking lot which is not gonna reflect well on the disc golfers when someones car gets dented or a window cracked, so i would vote we keep dong a.b.c and keep ape for special occasions, and on the matter of fort bragg evening rounds; that is one of the good things about the cr course anytime you show up you can get a game on, we generallu have 3-4 cards of players on thurs at 2:30 which with all the randoms and with us playing the back nine gets pretty clogged, i gueass all it takes is someone saying what time they want another weekly or doing a tues at 5;30 dubs instead of or as well as 2;30, on a side note i would really like to see more motivation from the club to move forward with some improvements to the cr course. we have a little money to sponsor some tee pads maybe a new basket sleeve or two and as i brought forward for yalls approval at the meeting i feel it would be very easy to get more sponsors, i do like the idea of doing 3 tee pads at once, so i guess i would like to call to order the fort bragg course design commitee to get together and talk about what to do . i feel like this hasnt had the attention it deserves. i have put a lot of time into what i think the best options are. mainly being new tee pads and new basket locations and a few new holes on the back side, if we had 12 holes with alt pin locations and a few alt tee pads we could play a 24 hole weekly there which sounds fun to me, i would also like to build some saftey nets out of drift wood? and fishing nets? or maybe something similar to what the golden gate course has to protect people at tee 3 and tee8(new) and maybe one for that short through the trees shot we did for the icebowl. anywho i would love to bounce my ideas off the folks who said they wanted to be a part of this committee, and then move forward. i think the club has thought that sponsoring hole one was a good idea and i think thats something we could do anytime im not skilled at concrete work, and i know it will take a little work digging out the (tee boxes) that are there, i think all it would take is setting up a appointment with a concrete truck delivery and getting a handfull of guys out there to work. it s always pretty easy to get a crew of fort braggers out there to help, so i believe erin and matthew wanted to be an the cr course improvement commitee, can we go out there and walk out each of our ideas and make some plans next week tues wed or thurs? im sure hawk will be available. i think he was on that commitee too. not thats it limited to these people but those are the ones who showed interest already

  4. I believe there is an 8pm doubles round on tuesday as well as the 2pm round. Also, there is a monthly(?) full moon glow round on every full moon. There is usually a note posted on the rules sign near hole one in FB a few days before the full moon, noting the exact day and time the glow round will be starting.

  5. 1. Thanks for the write up writeupweather.
    2. Good points Raydon...what do others think?
    3. I like Dirka's thought and point on the PDGA rules for 2nd places and ties. I would also like to see a Tuesday night 5:30pm doubles round in Fort Bragg so people who work 9-5 (like me) can play. The 24 hole course sounds groovy. I support the design committee to get together and do ya thang.

  9. IDK how to add new posts to the blog, but we definitely need something fresh to read about. How did the Mendo boys fare at the Buddha Tree? Team Chicken Hill finished 1st and 2nd at World's Biggest Disc Golf Weekend in Lake County. I (Wip) took the "B" division with Hawk in a close 2nd. Won some plastic and had a blast (as always).
